Pastor’s Message

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,D60_1901

The Year of Mercy which is about to close on November 20th, 2016 was an invitation to love, kindness, and unbounded generosity. We were offered the opportunity to encounter the incredible mercy of God. Encountering mercy means encountering God! We found that extraordinary acts of love are possible for us all no matter where we are in our life, and how to be willing instruments of God’s mercy in our immediate space. When the Year of Mercy commenced last year Pope Francis had given us reasons why he wanted a jubilee of Mercy.  “… Because this is the time for mercy. It is the favourable time to heal wounds, a time not to be weary of meeting all those who are waiting to see and to touch with their hands the signs of the closeness of God, a time to offer everyone the way of forgiveness and reconciliation.” God’s mercy, of course, is ever-present and ever-abundant. A Year of Mercy doesn’t make God more merciful or more inclined to forgive. God can’t change. But we can … and we must!

In our parish, we have planned out quite a few events to befittingly close this extraordinary jubilee. As the Pallikkoodaasakkalam  (the season of the Dedication of the Church) unfurls for us, I am happy to announce that we formally begin our altar renovation project on  30th October 2016. As has already been announced we have Adoration and Eucharistic Procession on the same day after the 9:30 AM  Qurbana. The month of November is a blessed time for us. Brother Thomas Paul will be here for us to lead the ‘Year of Mercy Summit-2016’ on November 4, 5 & 6 ( Friday, Saturday & Sunday). His  talks based on Catechism of the Catholic Church on Saturday, November 5th is mainly for all the volunteers of our church and for those who are interested.

The Pilgrimage to the Holy Land organised in connection with the Year of Mercy is scheduled from November 8th through 19th. A team of 32 members are making the trip. 20 November 2016 is the formal day of closing of the Jubilee and we have planned a Prolife programme in our parish on that day. Another important event in the offing is the election to the Parish Council which must be completed  by mid- December. The initial proceedings need to be done in the month of November. I expect your whole hearted cooperation in this regard.

The United States Presidential Election of 2016 is scheduled to be held in early November. Let us pray for the smooth conduct of the same.

AGAPE-2016  is scheduled for  27 Nov 2016. This occasion is a celebration of our loving fraternity and  togetherness. This is the noble vision of this Family feast. The motto quite befittingly is “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” The success depends on each of you! Do cooperate enthusiastically.

My dear siblings, it is going to be thanksgiving time quite soon! Let us be grateful to God and man for the innumerable gifts we receive each moment. It is an occasion to count our blessings- big and small. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever…!

May God bless our families through the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin.
