FAITHFEST 2018
SUNDAY SCHOOL YOUTH FESTIVAL
Art Competitions: Saturday, March 17 at 12 noon
Main Competitions: Saturday, March 24 from 9 am to 5 pm
Registration:
Pre-registration is required to participate in the competitions. No walk-ins allowed. Registration closes on March 15. CCD children can register online, in classrooms or with the parish/CCD office. Registration fee is $10 per student. A child can register for a maximum of 4 items from the list given. First, second and third prizes will be given to the winners.
1. Coloring (Crayons):
Art work (picture) will be given on the spot for crayon coloring. Contestants will have to bring their own crayons and supplies (no markers). Contestants have to color the picture with crayons only. Time: 1 hour
Group 1: Pre-K, KG & Grade 1.
Topic: Group 1: Holy Eucharist (Picture will be given).
2. Pencil Drawing:
Bring your own color pencils and supplies. Paper will be given.
Time: 1 hour
Topic: Group 1 (Pre-K, KG & Grade 1): Holy Bible
Group 2(Grades 2, 3 & 4): Holy Rosary
Group 3 (Grades 5, 6, 7 & 8): Transfiguration of Jesus (Mathew 17:1-5)
3. Painting (Water Color):
Bring your own water color set and supplies. Paper will be given.
Time: 1 hour
Topic: Group 1 (Grades Pre-K, KG & 1): Holy Cross
Group 2 (Grades 2, 3, & 4): Jesus praying in Gethsemane (Mathew 26: 36)
Group 3 (Grades 5, 6, 7 & 8): The ascension of Jesus. (Luke: 24: 50-53)
Themes for the artwork: Read the Bible reference given before coming to the art competition.
Contestants have to be ready for the theme/topic assigned to their group. Grading will be based on the artistic skills, theme, perfection and uniformity/selection of color.
4. Sign of the Cross + Basic Catholic Prayer (English):
Group 1 (Pre-K, KG & Grade 1) & Group 2 (Grades 2, 3 & 4)
Time: 3 minutes
Group 1: Pre-K to 1:
(Study all prayers from the list below. Some or all can be asked on the spot)
• Solemn Sign of the Cross prayer (This can be done in Malayalam as well)
• Our Father……………..
• Hail Mary…………….
• Prayer to Guardian Angel
Group 2: Grades 2 to 4: Prayer list.
(Study all prayers for group 1 and the following)
• The Angelus prayer
• Memorare
• Act of Contrition
• Hail Holy Queen
4. Solo Song (English and Malayalam – Christian devotional preferred)
Time: 5 minutes
Group 2 (Grades 2, 3, 4), Group 3 (Grades 5, 6, 7, 8) & Group 4(Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)
English song and Malayalam song are conducted and judged separately. Track or music accompaniments will be allowed. There will be no group song competition.
5. Instrument music:
Group 2 ( Grades 2,3,4,5), Group 3 (Grades:5,6,7,8) & Group 4 (Grades:9,10,11,12)
Time: Maximum 5 minutes
Music instruments permissible: Keys/ Strings /Percussion
• Keys – Piano, Key board, Organ, Accordion
• Strings – Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Violin, Cello
• Percussion – Manual Drums, Electronic Drums, Congo Drums, Tabala.
Please inform which musical instrument your child is playing.
6. Bible Reading:
Group 3 (Gr 5,6,7 & 8) and Group 4 (Gr: 9,10,11 &12)
Any passage from the Gospel of Mark will be given on the spot for all groups.
Time: Maximum 4 minutes
7. Bible Story Narration:
(Group 2, 3 & 4)
Time: Maximum 5 minutes

Group 2 (Grades 2, 3 & 4):

8. Saints & Bible Characters in Costumes (Character show)
Time: 2 minutes
Group 1(Pre K, K & 1), Group 2 (Grades 2, 3, & 4), & Group 3 (Grades 5, 6, 7, & 8):
Select any one character from the list below. The contestants can dress up as that character and imitate this character on stage with a dialogue presentation unique to that character. Max time allowed per contestant for presentation on stage: 2 minutes
